Kids Against Hunger

Who We Are

Kids Against Hunger Missouri Valley packages highly nutritious, life-saving meals for starving children and malnourished children and their families in developing countries and the United States.  The goal of the organization is for its meals to provide a stable nutritional base from which recipient families can move their families from starvation to self-sufficiency.

We hope that every man, woman, and child would have the opportunity to become empowered participants in the kingdom of God throughout our community.

What We Do

We empower people to serve the “least” in our world by offering opportunities to be an active part of packing and/or distributing food.

Why We Do It

When we serve and love those in extreme poverty, we live out a “new vocation” that God calls us to as ambassadors of Jesus, offering reflections of redemption found in Him.

How Are We Doing it?

Facilitating food packing events so vitamin-rich meals can be served to those in extreme poverty.  This is done through strategic partnerships with full-time missionaries on the ground.

The Kids Against Hunger Meals have been formulated by food scientists...

to provide a rich source of easily digestible protein, carbohydrates, and vitamins needed by a malnourished child’s and adult’s body and mind.  The food also accommodates the broad diversity of ethnic tastes and religious differences around the world.  KAH’s meals offer all nine of the essential amino acids required for complete nutrition.  The beauty of the food formulation is its simplicity. It is made from four readily available, dry ingredients that are easy to package, keep for long periods, and require only boiling with water to prepare.  Despite the simplicity of the food’s contents, it is a nutritionally complex and well-balanced meal.

Each bag contains:

The vitamin formula is a proprietary formula and is the “secret sauce” that goes into our food.  Each bag of dehydrated food when boiled will feed six adults or children.  According to the food scientists developing the food, it supplies the optimum amount of nutrition for a malnourished individual.  It provides not just a meal, but better health to starving people.  Additionally, our bags are specifically made from moisture-proof and odor-proof material to prevent spoilage and insect or rodent problems.  KAH’s life-saving meals have a shelf life of at least three years.

Host An Event

The unplanned, but very real beneficiaries of Kids Against Hunger are the volunteers who package the food.  The manual food packaging process not only feeds many children and families, it also brings satisfaction and deep engagement to the volunteers who package it.  For most volunteers, it is the ultimate hands-on contribution that, because of its simplicity, individuals from 8 to 80 can perform.  Volunteers from all walks of life and society – schools, churches, civic, scouting troops, neighborhood kids and families – package the food for distribution to starving people all over the world.
